I am a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. My research focus is on the validation of ethnomedicines and isolating the compounds responsible for their observed biological activities. In the process I have isolated many novel compounds and have also contributed, jointly along with my students, a number of compounds to the pan African Natural Product Library (p-ANAPL), a resource base for those wishing to screen compounds for drug development. An appreciable number of publications, in peer reviewed journals, have also emanated from these studies. I haves been involved in training manpower for the country in the last 40 years plus including supervision of 15 postgraduate students comprising 10 M.Sc./M.Phil. and 5 PhDs, some of whom are holding senior academic positions in the Nigerian University system and captains of Pharmaceutical Industry. I had in the process won several Research grants locally and internationally.
